These are a few of our Frequently Asked Questions. If your question is not here, be sure to contact us. We are happy to answer all your questions.
What does “Open Call” mean?
Each issue will be assigned a theme. For example: The Winter Issue/Open Call. Open call means that we will accept stories, essays and poems that are unrelated to the theme.
If my story isn’t related to the theme, will it still be published?
Yes. In every issue you will find published submissions that are unrelated to the theme. Our first priority is to find the best told stories and publish them.
I didn’t realize you were only taking submissions for January and March 2015. What will happen to the submission I sent for December 2014?
No worries. We will save your submission and consider it for either January or March. If accepted you will be notified 2-4 weeks prior to the publication date.
Do you pay for submissions?
Not at present. We are two stay-at-home mom’s funding this business with whatever loose change we find on laundry day. However, it is our goal to be able to pay for submissions in the future. When we are able to do so, we will make a HUGE announcement.
What does, “Original art or photographs” mean?
If you did not take the picture yourself or create the art yourself, it is not original and cannot be used.We could be sued for copy infringement if we publish artwork or photos that belong to a third party. If that happens our husbands, children and pets will be very cranky with us. So please, only send the work you created.
I sent art/photos that weren’t mine. Will my story be rejected?
If we choose to publish your story, we will leave out the photo or art. But please, please, please, contact us IMMEDIATELY at firstname.lastname@example.org to notify us of this mistake. Include your name and the name of your story in the email and we will make sure the art/photo is deleted.
What format will your publication be distributed in?
Initially our publication will be distributed as a PDF on our website. It will also be distributed as e-book on Kindle, Nook, and iBooks. Our goal is to include print format sometime in 2015. We will make an announcement when print issues become available.
When will I be notified if my story is rejected?
Yes. ALL writers will be notified by email as to the status of their submissions, 2-4 weeks prior to the publication date.
